Default Need some help after Ape Install

Hey Guys/Gals,

So I went ahead and dived head first into a 14 PYO install on my Ultra.

I thought I did a pretty good job internal wiring. I did remove the green plug from the TBW and soldered the wires together.

My issue is; after I got everything back together, everything seem to work good except for CRUISE CONTROL and got the Engine Light / 3 codes (P1510, P2127, P2138). As far as the cruise control goes, I hit the switch on the console to and get the light and the red signal on the dashboard. BUT nothing is working on the handlebar control. I rode the bike to work and back and everything seems to be good.

Anybody have any suggestions, I have everything back apart looking for clues. I have a trip to Victorville CA tomorrow for a regional meeting, so any quick guidance would be great.

Also if you have any pics of Clutch Cable routing, that would be great. I have tried rerouting it three times. Still doesn't seem rights. Thanks

Scream..

Unplug the connector for the wiring harness going up to the handle bar controls your having trouble with. Using an ohm meter, check each pin to ground to make sure non of the wires are shorted to ground. If that checks out, go to the wiring schematic in the service manual that shows the handle bar controls. Again using the ohm meter and following the schematic, manipulate the switches and make sure none of the wires are open and all the switches are operational. An example would be to find which two wires are for the cruise set function. Stick the ohm meter leads into the corresponding pins on the connector. They should read open until you manipulate the switch at which time they should read shorted together. If all the wiring and switches check out, I'm not sure what to try next but if it all worked before you started it's hopefully a wiring error or short. Hope this helps.

I would say check your pins in the connector, see if they fully seated. And make sure all wires are in the right location on the connector. Did you extend your wires?

Any chance you broke the brake light switch during the swap. That's how I figured out my cruise was not working. If the switch is broken the electronic sensor in the cruise assumes the brake light is on and will not allow the cruise to be enabled (set).
Turn on the bike and see if the rear brake light is staying on, or if it only goes bright when the brake lever is pulled in. If it stays on then you broke your switch.

After looking at your codes it's probably not the brake light switch.

Here are the codes.
P1510 - EFI Limited Performance Mode
P2127 - TSG2 Low/Open
P2138 - TSG Correlation Error (Twist Grip Sensor)

I just went over all the connections and solders (visually) I will try the OHM meter thing. I even reremoved my TBW and check the solders on that.

Mac Daddy - Yes I did extend my wiring. I didn't mess with the connectors just solder at both ends of the extensions (60+ solders, damn)

Brake lights are working just fine..Not on unless I activate.

Everything seems to work just fine except I have no cruise operations and those 3 codes (which I can't seem to clear, probably doing it wrong) I know how to get to the codes, once you see the word clear you just turn off the bike correct? Do you stay olding the odometer, must be doing something wrong there too. Thanks for the help

Unfortunately we get a steady trickle of queries like this, after handlebar and other electrical mods. If everything worked fine before you started, it can work fine again - once the hidden problem is solved! Electrical problems are often mechanical, meaning they are caused by a bad/no/crossed connection, or a pinched wire going to ground, or a poor ground, etc.

I just installed those same bars on my SG a few weeks ago. The pins were an issue for me. Weren't fully seated at first. All good now.

One of the plugs has like 2-3 white wire with tracer color maybe got mixed up? I remember I almost did that but made sure I doubled check
