actually, the hd shocks have a 1 year warranty. as do most p&a items now. can't tell you how the shocks compare to the progressives, but facts need to be accurate when you're doing comparisons.
Thanks for the update. Glad to know the HD shocks are 1 year. I updated my earlier post with the correct info.
I have the new HD shocks on my bike. I really like the ride, but mine quickly developed a leak and all the oil in the preload adjustment ran out. The dealer replaced them for free. They even admitted that the shocks failed because they installed them wrong. I have never had progressives, but these are much better than the air shocks.

Glad the dealer took care of you but how in the world could they screw that job up? Man it's cave man simple. Oh well just another reason minimize the times when someone else touches my bike. I just installed mine today and hope to check out the ride improvement tomorrow.
HD Premium shocks are a definite improvement plus Progressive shocks are way too highly overrated for sub standard highly marketed shocks. Ride the HD Premium shocks for a while, I had 2 SG and now the new 14 SGS and I have to admit that I don't have the need or desire to buy "Progressive shocks" because in all honesty in my opinion they are not needed. But if you want to waste your money then thats your decision~ Play w the HD Premium shocks, adjust them, ride them, ride 2 up, etc and see what happens and I'm sure you will be pleasantly surprised...
The JRIs (and Ohlins) have more travel (neighborhood of 3") than the other two, so will be less likely to bottom out.
Alan
The reason those brands of shocks don't bottom out (I have Ohlins #3-3) is because they have superior damping to most other shocks, nothing to do with travel! A less expensive #2 version of the Ohlins is available with 4" of travel, however Howard of Motorcycle Metal assured me the #3 range have superior damping than the #2 and will better suit Mrs B and I.
Yet again we have a thread about shocks, but no mention of carrying a passenger. In my experience a Touring Harley when ridden solo can be very comfortable with pretty ordinary shocks, however add the most important passenger in the World and ride quality takes on a very different meaning. Shock quality becomes more important, as does a better understanding of what makes a decent shock.
If you are looking for shocks and carry a passenger, don't be influenced by comments that don't mention one.
just bought the progressive 944 with heavy duty springs($566.16) and the progressive monotube kit($224.96) off amazon on monday and both were here by friday. for the money the progressives were a better buy than the harley stuff(yes, you can save some money from buying from kutter/other discounters), but kutter was telling me 10 days to ship and another 4 days for delivery to south texas. life time warranty on the progressives and 1 year on the harley. heading out for 6k trip in a week and could not wait for kutter to ship.
either suspension will be a big improvement over the stock set-up. once again, an up graded suspension should be an option. security and abs, or premium suspension...our choice. the main reason i am not riding a rushmore is i am waiting for the roadglide re-introduction. hoping the moco offers the plain custom series and the ultra/limited series. if they do indeed put the radiator in the new fairing, maybe they can offer a bike without the lowers and the bling of the fancier models.
This is the first shock thread I have seen without someone calling Howard a ********.
So I will.
Thread was missing a critical element.
My pleasure.
BTW HD Premium Shocks work well for me.

Just got back from my first ride since installing the Harley Premium shocks. I'm about 270 with gear so I set the adjuster 12 turns in. Only rode about 50 miles but I purposely seeked out the worst roads around here. Expansion joint heaves and crappy cold patches. That's always been my complaint with the stock suspension. The improvement is really significant. Previously I was constantly cringing over the same roads. Not now. I knew the front suspension was always harsh but the back end was so brutal that I didn't notice it. Now the front end feels pretty bad. That'll be next. At $399 delivered to my front door from Kutters I'd have to say its a great value/improvement upgrade. I'll have to wait and see how they work when I crank them up all the way to carry the wife but have to be better that the stock junk.
