Problem with security system
If it has a security system and no fob, how did you go for a ride to begin with? Hold both turn signal switches for a few seconds to turn off hazards.. Maybe they are on. Or the TSM (turn signal module) has an error code. (Replaced with TSSM for bikes with security.)
Do you even know that PIN? Did the dealer tell you what it was?
If not, your not going to be doing anything with the factory security system without a programmed FOB.
If you know the PIN, then wait for the lights to stop flashing.
Then without moving the bike, turn the ignition switch on.
Very quickly press and hold both turn signal buttons at the same time until you see the 5 dashs show up in the speedo.
Now you can enter the PIN.
Press the left signal button x times (whatever the first PIN number is)
Then press the right signal button to move to the next number.
Press the left signal button x times (whatever the second PIN number is)
Continue to the last PIN number and then press the right signal button again.
The security system is now disabled and the bike should start.
Note: You will need to do this each and every time you turn the ignition off.
For that reason, I am skeptical that it even has a factory security system.
If it did, how were you able to get the bike started in the first place without the FOB?
Probably isn't going to be that easy. They are not just going to take it back and give you a different one after you already bought this one.
Entering the PIN bypass code wont work unless the tranny is in neutral, at least on my bike
It's easy to overlook in the excitement, like the guy i seen one morning in Custer, as i walked to grab me a coffee in the morning. Seen him on the other side at a motel, trying to get his bike started. Walked over and he said, that it started just fine yesterday by entering the PIN. Lost his fob he said.....asked him if it was in neutral, so he checked and wasn't. Started at first try after that.

hmm. interesting. i just tested it on mine. no problem at all entering the pin and starting it in gear. of course, because it was in gear, i did have to have the clutch pulled in. but otherwise, no problem.
also, tested the wife's bike. same result. no problem.
my bike 2013 cvo rg; her bike 2012 rgc.

With a FOB present, can you start the bike while it is in gear (providing you have the clutch pulled in)?
well......i be a duck! after reading your post, i went out to try it in gear and it worked as you said.
going back to last year when i had issues getting mine started, and talked to the dealer. they asked if i had the card in my wallet with instructions/code on it.....which i did. They specifically told me to have it in neutral, but still couldnt get it going and the alarm kept going off, and the reason was this,
as per instructions, after turning ignition switch to IGN:
press and release "left" signal switch....should say left and right!! but thats why i had problems. Went to the dealer later on to show them the card's false instructions...they took the bike in and they flashed the ecm and took a copy of the instruction card, so they can send it to MOCO. Maybe that flash eliminated the need for it to be in neutral. Dont know...
Still doesn't explain why that other guys bike started up in neutral, where before it would show the 5 digit window, but as soon as he was trying to enter the first code, it would disappear, if i remember right.
Bottom line is that my post was incorrect. Thanks for pointing it out.

there is an app for Android "V-Twin Reference" that has lots of info on how to do stuff on bikes, pin reset, enter pin, find pin, diagnostics codes and much more. Very handy. May have it for I Phone now.
