Default Having Trouble Deciding

I have been looking at two bikes and having trouble deciding which one to jump on. 1st one is a 2009 CVO Ultra with 18,000 miles in immaculate shape with race tuner, stage one airfilter, Rinehart slipons, detach tourpack, detach streeglide style backrest, and all CVO goodies $23,000. The next bike is a 2014 Street Glide Special that has like 3,000 miles and comes with 4 point docking, passenger backrest with rack and Vance and Hinds Slip ons. I had a 2007 CVO Dyna and loved the bike to look at but wanted something more comfy so I traded for a 2008 Ultra which I loved but sold to buy the wife a new house. Curently riding a 2006 Heritage Classic and want to get back to a touring bike. I have always loved the CVO bikes and this seems like a good deal, but I have been hearing such great things about the new Rushmore bikes and with the accessories included I think the SG is a good deal too. What are your guys thoughts, which one would you go with and why.

Thanks
Phil

It would be tough for me to buy a bike with a lot of performance upgrades for the simple fact is you know someone has ran the $hit out of it. I would go with the 14 SGS.

I would never buy a bike that's had a bunch of $hit done to it. Go with a new bike with the warranty.

If nothing's wrong with the SGS then I would choose that.

Without a doubt, the 2014. For the reason that there are soon many advances/upgrades that I would be bored trying to type them all.

It just depends on if you want all the extras that the CVO bikes come with, and if you bought a regular stock bike would you be tempted to start adding most of those things to it? Some people are content on mostly a stock bike, and some people like me find ourselves adding a bunch of extras to a stock bike and end up having way more invested in it than we should. I did that back in 2003 when I bought a brand new Road King, and by the time I had added all the things to it, including custom paint, I had a fortune in a stock bike with a bunch of add on's. The last go around I just bought a CVO and have been very happy with it. This is just my experience and what worked for me.

You might want to check out the possible issues with the 09 CVO engine. Not sure what years they had issues but I'm pretty certain 09 was one of those years.

It depends on if you want a loaded Ultra or a stripped down Street Glide. Two different bikes, only you can say what is better for you.
FWIW, slip ons, air filter and tuner aren't a sign that the PO was hard on the motor - everyone does that, not just hot rodders.
If the 09 CVO motor is problematic, see if it got fixed along the way...
