To each their own dude. The dang bars are there for a reason. You let us know how that goes for you when you dump your bike without them, then we will see who is whining, OMG I never should of took em off, lmao.... What a stupid post.

You must be in the garage looking at how kewl your bike is, OR you are already assessing the damage already done, lmao..

Did that the day I bought my RG...the solo seat gives it an altogether different and more aesthetic look...

They are called crash bars cause they make your bike so wide, sure to hook on something and fall over in tight spaces.

I took them off my new SGS, and were removed from old bike without a worry.

Stupid to have/not have goes both ways

My neighbor's uncle's best friends cousin had a wreck after removing his crash bar. He died, and before they revived him, he woke up in hell. An angel appeared and gave him one chance to repent. He now rides with crashbars on his sportster. We all laugh at him when he rides by.

Shortly after I bought my Heritage, I put a set of engine guards on the bike. I thought they looked good, and of course, thought they might help a little if I dropped the bike.

I then bought an Ultra. I decided since I was going to keep the Heritage (they feel like two totally different bikes) I would remove the engine guards. I figured I'd have one "slim" light Harley and one full dress Harley...

They were off for about 6 months and I just couldn't get used to the look. For some reason, I feel with the 16" front tire and driver floorboards, the engine guard just seems to fit the look better...

So now it's back on... just my $.02.....
