unless you've had one, I wouldn't discount that amp. Pretty impressive for it's size and documented power. I've run that amp in the past and have to say I was quite impressed with it. The major thing to keep in mind is simply the fact that 40w per channel of amplifier power is FAR SUPERIOR to that of a head unit rated at 50w per channel. There is no comparison
There is ALWAYS going to be bigger and better but for those who want to save their money for beer, I say go for it.
Thanks Ultra for your response here and to my PM. You truly are a stand up guy that the Harley forum community is lucky to have.
I'm still debating on the Alpine KTP445 or PBR300x2 for the price and to make my current set up sound the best.
Down the road I'll look into some type r or focal components, alpine F6 or arc audio amp and a pair of alpine or infinity 6x9.
I can't remember but I could look it up on my receipt it sounds amazing, really loud and clear. I added the ipod adapter and control at the same time and spent about $1250 well worth the money no regrets at all.

After reading all the post and considering all the options, I went with the ALPINE KTP-445U amp. It really was a night and day difference in sound from just running my speakers off the head unit. The speakers are alive now. I get really clean and crisp mids and highs. It past the HWY test. They are still clear and loud enough at 80+mph.
