Default dyno a new bike?

I picked up a new 2014 CVO Breakout, and it arrived with 43 miles on it...the dealership said they put it on the dyno for the base map setup. Should I be worried that they beat the snot out of it? Anyone else have an initial dyno done? All the other dealerships I have spoken to do not put on a dyno until 1,000 to fine tune the map.

The bike has Vance/Hines 2 into 2 radius and the Screamin' Eagle Perf Tuner.

1000 Miles is what I have always heard. Man a new bike. If you have ever seen them dyno one, yes they run the **** out of them. Never heard of them doing that to a new one. Just my opinion. I have a friend with the Harley tuner. They didn't do his until it had 1000 miles.

43 miles seems excessive. But I seriously doubt anything is hurt. They put brand new bikes on the dyno all the time.

Dyno tuning is about more than WOT runs to the redline. I think I racked up 30 miles or so during my tuning session.

I wouldn't be worried about it at all. How much break in to roller bearing engines need? Ever replaced a wheel bearing and babied it for 1000 miles? I'd bet most dealers won't do it for fear of a bitchy customer coming back with some problem and blaming it on the pre-1000 mile dyno tune even though it's most likely not a related cause (just like changing the air filter, exhaust, dyno to syn, etc).

I bet the rings are seated at least...

It is quite likely they went through a 'run-in' period on the dyno, before doing any set-up runs. We also need to get away from this daft mentality that 'dyno runs' are the same as 'dyno shoot-outs'. I've witnessed my own brand spankers S&S engine being set-up on a dyno, also a highly tuned S&S 124" being set up in it's upper rev range (160+HP anyone?!). They are both fine.

Every brand new race bike engine I have ever seen broke in on a dyno has had better compression, better HP and Torque, and better sealed rings than any bike that ever followed a manufacturers break in. I'd be thrilled if mine was run in on a dyno personally.

I'll flat out admit I didn't baby my new bike it had 5 miles on it when it rolled of the dealership floor for the next 45 miles I progressively made harder and harder runs through the rpm range until reaching redline in multiple gears, changed the oil and changed the filter at 50 miles and called it good.

I cringe when I see a bike for sale and they proudly advertised they babied it through recommended break in procedure.

Running a bike on a dyno isn't "beating the snot out of it".

BTW, the first time your bike was started after assembly it was rolled onto a chassis dyno and run up to 100mph with no warm-up or break-in. Every bike Harley makes goes through this, and you can watch it happen at the York plant tour.
