Default Speedo issues

Hi all! Although I am a very new member to this forum, I have searched around a bit for some answers and haven't really come up with anything. And yes, I am planning on purchasing a service manual in the near future.

The issue is that the speedometer does not work. I also have an active fault for the TSSM. Not sure if these are related... I have retrieved the blink codes for the TSSM and got a 1-2 and a 4-4 code. These are not codes that I have seen from any of my searching so I am a little stumped on that. Both blinkers and 4-ways work as they should. The blinkers do self- cancel. As far as the speedo goes, the guage just does not register any speed whatsoever. The cruise control does work and I believe all of the other lights are illuminating on the guage. I don't believe that this is a speed sensor issue because the cruise works, but I could be wrong. Is there anything I can check or are there any tests I can perform? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Zach

Welcome to the forum brother! Dunno if this will help or not, its all I could find. If this don't help you, try checking all of your grounds, sometimes they cause funky chit to happen if they are loose or corroded... Here is the link for TSSM manual. I know its a softail but it might get you pointed in the right direction.

Ditto on checking all the grounds. Mine was resetting the odometer and trip meter back to the last value every time I shut it off. It did keep the mileage down for a month or two until I got it sorted, too bad it was AFTER Ispent over $400 on a new one.

Don't wear a speedo.......then you won't have issues!

Thanks for the replies! Yeah, I was planning on checking the wires and connectors for any issues. I'm away for the weekend so nothing will get done, but I really want to figure this out! I also wanted to add that with the codes that the bike has the alarm is not working... or the battery is just dead in the fob. I really don't know mug about Harley's yet, but I'm ready to start digging in! So... How hard is it to get into the fairing?

I think your are correct about it not being the sensor. Do the lights on the speedo work? How about the odometer, does it count up? If so that kind of points to a bad speedometer.

Good luck

My speedometer has never worked, it reads 80 when I'm sure I'm only going 55!!!

Booch that is quite the speedo issue... haha

I'm pretty sure the speedo light is working, but the odometer does not count up. As I said I'm away for the weekend, but I will hopefully be working on the bike when I get back home.
