I've seen them occasionally on the road and while at my indy asked him about one parked in his lot. I noticed it was bolted locked in a drilled and tapped hole thru the clasp. He claimed they are illegal if detachable (only in CA, who knows). He claimed mc's started them years ago as weapons and that real early ones had 'monkey fists' with a ball bearing in the middle on the free end.
Amazingly, or maybe not considering it is Kalifornia, if you have a get back whip on your bike that is not zip tied and screwed lock shut it is a Felony.

I like the long braids I see attached to the front brake lever. I think it would look good hanging from my RKC. Is there some sort of significance or meaning I'm not aware of. I wouldn't want to get myself into some kind of bind....like red tennis shoes or something.
I was walking with a friend (an old timer since passed )through the bikes at a rally of sorts in Tulsa ok. the rumble on brookside charity ride ..he punched my arm and pointed at a bike with stuff hanging off the bars and said ( TASSELS ARE FOR ******* NOT MOTORCYCLES) I am still laughing today.....just a funny story to share ...not my opinion...hope you laugh and think about an old biker that is gone ...
