I just rode out to Corbin (California)this morning to have them do a slight modification to my custom soloseat. I bought the saddlebag guards and they wouldn't fit with my new seat. My seat would need to be notched to accept the guards. My fault... as I didn't tell them I was adding saddlebag guards when they were making my seat. I had no idea they wouldn't fit.

They didn't have any appts. available when I called on Wednesday, but said to come down early and they would work me in. Fantastic place to deal with. I rode my bike right into one of the stalls in their garage and I was done in about an hour and a half. While waiting I was able to sit in their cafe and have breakfast and watch through huge windows as they were working on my bike and others in the garage. Awesome place and great service both times I've been there. Best of all they didn't charge me anything for today's work!!

It's too bad they don't have the same deal going in Florida...I too assumed they did.

I wanted to pick up a dual tour for my RG...went to bike week fromCanadalast year for that very reason, was too icy to ride, and I didn't have resources to fly or trailer my bike down.
I wa disappointed that a company that charges $1000 for a seat, when you add up all the additional crap, didn't even have a frame type appendage for those unable to attend with their bikes, where you can put ondifferent seats, so that I could sit on one for 10 seconds to see if my *** was comfortable with the taper. Their rep I spoke to was a high strung Asxxxxx! and no help at all. I guess with all the other people there, he didn't need my business.
I met the Mustang people in Sturgis, and they were fantastic, but I found that their seat does push me forward more than I'd like, and I was not comfortable with that.
I will be getting a saddlemen road sofa this spring.

I just ordered a Classic Solo from Corbin, but had to call and talk to Rich in FL, to get anywhere with my custom order.
I called Cali at first and got some young lady who was rude, and very uninformed about the products. I told her my 05 EG had a FLHX dash on it, and that I wanted to buy a FLHX seat, the first thing out of her mouth, was, "Its not going to fit, if you want a custom fit seat, you have to bring your bike to California for a custom fit", this is so much nonsense, how much of a custom bike do i have? I only put on a different dash, and have alreay tried a corbin on my bike, so I know it will fit, well, she
wouldn't belive me, and didn't want to sell me a seat! She went on and told me about how many people have bought seats and had to sell them on Ebay becuase they didn't fit, and that all sales are absolutely FINAL< NO RETURNS> for any reason.
The I told her a have rear crash guards installed, and she went ballistic, saying there is no way that it will fit. I asked about thier website saying they make all kinds of custom seat, and she again said, you have to bring your bike in, or you WILL NOT be happy and the seat will not fit, its was about then, I was sick of arguing with her, and hung up. You mean they can't setup a seat for a bike with crash bars without having the bike, that just makes no sense to me, just notch the damn seat!
The next day, I called Rich, the manager, or one of the manager's in the Fl office, and he was very nice, and able to make me a seat with all of the custom options that I wanted. My suggestion is, if you want to talk to someone about a custom, don't bother calling in Cali, I could not belive how I was treated on the phone, I bet her selling rates are very low, she spent 20 minutes talking me out of buying a Corbin. Rich in Fl, however was totally helpful, and said, no problems getting the seat notched for the rear crashbars, I also had them use a slightly softer foam, put flame stich on the seat and the rear skirt/sides, leave off the Vbar hardware, and use full leather on the entire seat, not just the part you sit on, they also extended the rear tail section, where there is normally a gap between the fender and the seat. It also is heated, and they said the heater has a lifetime warranty, I wasn't going to get it, if it was just one year on the heater.
All in all, I hope I will be happy with this $1000 seat, I have to wait 4-5 weeks to get it!
If you want to talk to someone who knows what he is doing , call Rich in FL
Peace
Rags

Hi guys, as far as the Corbin Florida location goes ,it is mearly an extension of the factory in Cali and serves as a warehouse and showroom, And like any other business, we from time to time run out of things. Sometimes due to production and large bike events across the country. We try to keep our salespeople as up to date and well trained as possible, but with 1000 plus seat models for around 20 different bike manufacturers and ever changing model year changes. And put bike mods on top of that andit can sometimes be difficult to keep up with. As of now we do not offer ride in custom seat making at our Florida location, but this is something they we can hopefully add in the future. However 3 weeks is a realitivley short time to wait to have a custom seat made to your specs. If we don't have something in stock and want to try it out a rep should be able to get one in so you can check it out so you can make a more informed decision.

I was amazed that Corbin didn't have any seats on display (maybe 8-10 on different bikes in 5-6000 square feetof showroom) in Ormond like they did at the old Main Street location. Being in retail myself I find things sell best where people can see, feel, touch etc. The computer screens with the website don't do much. Have that great big place - the three guys I was with and myself were like - "wow where are all the seats ?"

oh well probably gonna buy a seat anyway

won't send a bill to Corbin for my consultative analysis of their retail setup
