Have you checked out Bell's Pitboss or Drifter? Also the HD 1/2 with the flip down shield is worth a look...
I bought the Pitboss and it fit great but I didn't like the gloss black (my mistake), and I sent it back to to Revzilla (great to work with) for the Bell Drifter. This helmet is amazing. It's light, doesn't move around on my head, and even when it's 85-90 degrees, the interior doesn't get soaked with sweat (I shave my head and always have an issue with that).
Scorpion 3/4. Can switch shield for visor easily. Shield fits easily in saddlebag. I liked it so much I bought a second one - one is wired with intercom for when I ride with wife - one without for when I'm solo. Here's pic with me with Scorpion and wife with HJC.

Sounds like you don't like traditional full face helmets but I have a Shoei RF1100. Very comfortable, vents well, and is very quiet considering I don't use a windshield. Good luck! Finding the right helmet is difficult to say the least.
Sounds like you don't like traditional full face helmets ...
Correct, I've certainly worn my fair share of them, I've been riding a variety of bikes for 40+ years. When I switched from full face to 1/2 helmets, I realized how much peripheral vision and road "awareness" I had been missing. I liked the half helmets.
As I'm getting older, I'm realizing I'd been lucky to not have crashed in one of those 1/2 helmets. That prompted me to get the Bell 3/4 a year or two ago. Time to step it up again and see what 2014 3/4 or modular helmets have to offer.
I have the Bell 500 Customer too, pretty good helmet. I recently picked up a flip up visor for rain and cold weather protection, you might want to check it out before you invest in another helmet. Here is where I purchased mine:
