I too have had almost every type and style helmet over the years. I don't like the closed in feeling of a full face. I bought a shark and love it! I can flip it up to a 3/4 helmet in the city or if I'm hot, and make it a full on the fly if I'm in the dust or highway. Very comfy too. You won't be disappointed.

I had the "old style" Bell custom 500 (pre-2014) it fit OK. I just ordered two new helmets; a new 2014 Bell custom 500 and a Daytona 3/4 helmet.

The new 2014 Bell custom 500 is redsigned and sits lower on my head. It also seems to fit more true to size. After wearing it around the house for 5 minutes it seems more comfortable than the old one.

The Daytona 3/4 helmet is cheap but its very comfortable and fits my noggin well. It looks good but nowhere near as nicely finished on the inside as the Bell.

I've never been a helmet wearer. I can never find one that feels good. I keep buying these things. Hopefully, I'll get one I wear. I have found that the 3/4" helmets are the best for me in most cases because they cover my ears and reduce the wind noise. I can still hear the radio fine with the 3/4 helmets as well.

As I'm getting older, I'm realizing I'd been lucky to not have crashed in one of those 1/2 helmets. That prompted me to get the Bell 3/4 a year or two ago. Time to step it up again and see what 2014 3/4 or modular helmets have to offer.
The Shoei C3 is arguably the best modular helmet on the market. It's pricey but is well worth it...if it fits your head. A friend of mine has one and let me try it out one day (his was a little big) and it pretty much matches all of your criteria. It's quiet, lightweight, has great field of vision (for a full face...your peripheral is always going to be slightly affected between a 1/2 dome and a full face), and is actually designed for upright sitting position because it was designed with long distance tourers in mind.

Unfortunately, when I went to the store to buy one and find the right fitment, none of them fit my head comfortably. So instaed, I found an alternative that performs almost as spectacularly as the C3: The Lazer Monaco. And the Lazer has a photochromatic visor which I LOVE as I often ride right through dusk and into the night and never have to stop to change visors or worry about sunglasses being comfortable inside the full face. It is a seriously light full-face, very quiet, has great venting, and I've never had any vision issues.

Good luck on your search.

my wife has the hd version of the blade. same helmet, only has hd on it instead of the huge agv graphic.... she got it for cheaper than the agv version, so not all 'hd helmets are more expensive'......

she loves it. it is very comfortable, and the quick click fastener beats the hell out of the d-rings.

i think you'll be very happy with it. she's looking at replacing hers this year and since we can't find the hd number anymore, she'll probably go with the agv version.

I'm surprised you're the first to bust my chops on the typo. You can't seen to correct a thread title after the fact...

I want to thank everyone that caught on quickly as to the type of helmet I was looking for.

You've made some great suggestions for me to check into further. Keep the ideas coming.

Cool my .02 about impluse purchases.....and helmets....-

Was out runnin' around today and due to MAJOR road construction
projects found myself zig-zaging all day long......everywhere......

Ended up driving past dealer and noticed just a very large amount of
bikes outside......everywhere...gotta stop.

Almost closing time so fairly empty.....they were all dealer bikes outside!

Impulse...grabbed two helmets...both Vega..3/4 & 1/2...flat black...both
have snap-on visor...1/2 has vents just above the visor.
AND......made right here in the gool ol' U-S-of-A!.........

I haven't worn a full face lid in decades....I think the last one was used
for a drag sled...worked just fine when the temp dropped below freezing...

I'll let ya know about the XTA Touring model works out......
