Default Accessory switch wiring Road King 2014

Hi out there,

I try to install a GPS on the accessory switch on a Road King 2014. I expected to find a 4-Pin-Conenctor below the seat near the battery as in older models but I could not find it. Can someone explain where the wiring from the accessory switch ends on the near models?

I found a 2-pin-connector below the seat (picture). Is that the end of the accessory switch write? Can someone confirm, please?

Thanks in advance

It's under the left side cover. Check your owners manual for a picture. Also you need to purchase a pigtail wire with the correct connector from harley. Be careful not to just tap into power wires on the 2014's it could cause faults because of the new CAN Bus system.

Thanks. If I wire the GPS using a Deutsch connector to access the accessory port would that be fine?

As long as you know the pin out or can check it with a volt meter and find the ACC switched power it should be ok.

Default Wire to accessory nacelle switch on Road King 2014

Here is some information that might be helpful to others. This information relates to a Road King 2014.

Task: Wire GPS so that power can be switched on and off by the accessory nacelle switch (right side below the handelbar).

The wire connector to to the accessory switch is below the panel on the left side.

One need the Touring Electrical Connection Update Kit part number 69200722 to route a Deutsch connector below the seat.

The Deutsch connector has three wires going in: Black, Violet/Blue and Red/Blue.

I wired the GPS via the Deutsch Connector to the Black and Violet/Blue cable. (Got this information out of the instruction set number J05415 for the Zumo Roadtech Handlebar Kit.)

GPS gets power when Ignition is on or when ignition is turned to ACC.

Accessory nacelle switch has no impact.

I leave it for the moment like this. But I have to try if the Red/Blue wire might be the right on to connect the GPS to the accessory nacelle switch. Any hint would be welcome.

2014 Road King behind the little right accessory switch, white connector with two wires, purple blue which sends power to switch when ignition is on. Blue green wire sends power (when you turn the little right switch on) to the accessory 6 pin connector under left side cover in case you need to connect something else in the back section of the bike. If you piggy back the blue green wire (in the white connector or straight to the wire) you will be able to use the little switch in the front of the bike.

...and the red blue wire in the accessory connector under the left side cover is constant 12v power regardless of ignition.

OK, wrenching I can do, but I'm lost when it comes to wiring. I admit I have no business trying this, but I don't know anyone who has the skills to do this for me.

I bought a Kuryakyn accessory which has three wires: two wires go the battery terminals (got that part OK). Third wire has to be connected to a switched power source so the accessory does not stay on all the time. The accessory gets no power with only the wires to the battery connected, so this third wire must be connected to a switched power source.

What is an EASY way to do this that does not involve reading schematics, using a multi-tester, etc. I'm not into cutting wires in the wiring harness -- sounds like a bad idea. I also read on this forum that the Harley electrical system (CANBUS?) is such that you shouldn't tap into just any powered wire (if you say so).

Is there a way to use the accessory plug under the left side cover, that is factory wired to the right accessory switch at the nacelle? That would be my best possible scenario.

Thanks in advance.

Davemc...what year and bike? Does the device power up with power on that third wire and you flip the switch. My instinct would say it works with that third wire to ground. I can give you some points maybe but need to know year and if we are looking for ground or power.
