Default Trailer light issues

We have a 2003 HD Ultra Classic Electra Glide with a Voyager kit attached. We have the kit wired up and it works. Added the trailer on the other day and the solid lights work on the trailer, nothing for blinkers and the brake lights get dimmer when the handle and foot brake are pressed. We're at an end coming up with new ways to adjust the wiring. If anyone can help???

I'd check the ground. I've found that most of the time issues with lighting involve the ground.

First off...

Be sure the engine is running, since you have extra lighting in addition to the bike and the Voyager kit. You need the extra amperage to ensure adequate power. Then, start at the furthest part from the engine, testing the lights for power and be sure to physically check the ground. I took a full day, just yesterday, to clean every contact on my trailer/bike because of feedback to other lights. As snookie66 stated, most often it is a ground not making good contact, but not always. The only way to know, for sure, is to get your multi-meter out and systematically check everything.

+1on the ground. Park it in the dark, turn on the flashers only the flashers and see if the marker lights don't try to blink also. If so surely a ground.

Okay, got the blinkers blinking and the flashers flashing, the lights are solid. The taillights on the trailer dim when they should be lighting up. Any ideas?

Here would be the way I would attack it;
-Disconnect the trailer and test each circuit at the plug on the bike with your multi-meter. If that is OK then proceed to test each circuit on the trailer with two small pieces of wire to see if you can isolate the circuit that is causing you problems. I would be looking for a short in one of the tail light circuits. Might disconnect one light at a time even.
Hope this helps you track it down.

not real familiar with the voyager. are you running LED lights or incandescent lights? 4 wire harness, or 5 wire? trailer lights are not as easy as one you pull with your truck. Harleys are finicky with loads/ohms put on the lighting system....snip

In a 5 wire to 4 wire setup...

the signal lights on the vehicle and on the trailer will light up opposite of each other, if that's what you mean. That is not a problem, it is how it works. The converter transmits power in that order to the lights. As long as you have 'running' lights, brake lights, and turn signals working, don't bother about the sequence of the turn signals matching.

If you mean that when you engage one turn signal, and the other dims, that is a clear indication the ground is faulty. You'll have to go from one end to the other, and be sure the ground(s) are clean and making good contact.
