Until recently I rode as long as it was not snowing or icy & above 20*. But I changed work & work in the same building as my wife, saved 20 miles a day & most of the time ride together (unfortunately she doesn't want helmet hair so it is in the car & it has been 30-40* in the mornings & she won't ride when it's that cold). Did ride the other morning though, it had been warm enough that the snow didn't stick at my house, got about 3 miles away & the roads were wet, about another mile turned to slush for about 4 miles then turned to glare ice. That went on for about 3 miles. Did ok but my seat has a crease in the middle where my a$$ tightened up, lol.
I commute about 70 miles a day. I've put on just over 43,000 miles in 4 years.
I'm usually on the bike unless I have to pick up groceries that won't fit into the saddlebags. I don't like leaving for work on the bike when it's a downpour but it usually passes pretty quickly. My bike is the dirty one in the parking lot because I usually ride unless there is snow or ice on the road.
Prepare for driving conditions you may encounter. Dress appropriately. Drive safely.
