I'm not sure where to post this, but I have an Electra so I thought I would start here.
A bunch of the bolt heads on my motor/bike have become oxidized and ugly. I have seen other people put chrome covers on their, but not sure where to find them without paying a fortune from HD. I've seen the plastic ones that are sold on eBay and amazon, but do they hold up?
The bolt toppers look good when you first put them on but if you have to remove them, chances are your going to damage the finish. I had them on my bike (still have a few on) but I replaced most of the stock bolts with chrome ones. Cost more but worth it in the long one. Oh. Hot Toppers which made the good bolt toppers went out of business. Now you get the Chinese knock-offs......Need I say more!!
Another vote for Alloy Boltz!!! They look better than the chrome replacement bolts, and they don't show any rust inside the head like the chrome bolts. Plus, you won't be finding any missing bolt covers with the polished stainless bolts.
The local Ace Hardware Store down street sells both Chrome and Polished Stainless Steel bolts. I just swapped out the Tranny cover bolts this weekend. Just about everything on the engine/covers are cap head 1/4-20's so I just grab different lengths and replace a couple. The caps are easy but you have to pry them off every time you work on it so it not worth it.
