Default PYO 12" MBB pitfalls???

Ok. I've made the decision to go with the Yaffe 12" monkey bagger bars. What stupid little detail that will spoil attitude and my day should I plan on?

I will be changing out my controls to chrome switch housings, master cylinder and clutch perch at the same time. Plan to go with braided cable and brake lines at the same time.

I've searched to no avail, anyone have a required parts list?

Running the wiring inside the bars is the challenging part of the job but I did mine without too much trouble. I have the instructions from Yaffe that another forum member emailed me and they are very helpful. If you want I can email them to you. Just pm me you email address.

Wire extensions (Namz)? Cable lube to make the feeding of cable easier?

Do away with the retarded little green plug in the TBW harness. Either cut it out and solder your wires or buy the SE TBW...either way will work fine.

A helpful tip I learned by accident a few weeks back when wiring a set of bars...I usually wrap the entire length of the harness in electrical tape and then use heat shrink over that. Had ran out of heat shrink so I decided to try Black Gorilla Tape. Use 6-8" strips, lay wire on long edge of tape and roll it up like a cigarette. Start at the control end of the harness and work your way down overlapping each strip about an inch. Once your ready grease it up with a little Vaseline and slide her through. The Gorilla Tape is already a little slick but is tough enough not to snag on the bend in the MBB's. Also if possible, make all your wire extensions outside the bars. That way if something goes awry your splices are easy to get to.

Here's a writeup I did from my experiences

Got the install done basically following Yaffe instructions. Harbor Freight was jackpot for materials! I used Carbon Steel Welding wire .0123" thin wire but strong won't break! I used .095 weedwacker line to thread welding wire. Used 2 sizes ofshrink tubing 10mm x5M & 8mm x 5M. I used the 10mm shrink for left & right control wire bundles. Used the 8mm shrink for the TBW sensor bundle. I did cutout the infamous green TBW connector eliminating it and soldered and shrink wrapped. Picked up up bottle of Ideal Clear Glide at Lowes for lubing wire bundles and it worked out good.
Harbor Freight item numbers
10mm x 5mm Shrink wrap 98067 $2.99
8mm x 5mm Shirnk warp 98066 $2.99
Welding wire .023 4" spool 42915 $5.99

Here's the TBW green connector wiring elmination got from another forum .

Next is to draw a diagram of the two ends of the green connectors so you know which wires to connect when we cut off the connector. HD has split the wires coming from the sensor into two group with two different color shrink wraps:Black and Yellow. I will now refer to these as Black side wires and yellow side wires. Each side has a white wire, black wire, and red wire. This is what it looks like:
Here is how the wires will hook up.

Blue Wire------(Black Side) White Wire

Brown Wire----(Black Side) Red Wire

Black Wire-----(Black Side) Black Wire

Grey Wire-----(Yellow Side) Black Wire

Red Wire------(Yellow Side) Red Wire

Purple Wire----(Yellow Side) White Wire

Buy the SE TBW.
Make sure you get a transmission cover gasket and lube, whatever brand you use.
If you extend wires (you don't have to, you can just move the plugs under the radio.) do it after you pull wires through the bars.
Get a set of poly handle bar bushings

Dave I don't believe relocating the plugs under the radio will work on 12" MBB's. They are almost 14"'s tall. It would be a stretch for sure.
+1 on the poly bushings too.

Thanks for all the input. Anyone have a part number for the SE TBW?
Is that a harness used on the CVO's or a SE accessory part?
