The guy making the claim has his previous bike, an FXR model I believe, in the motorcycle museum on Main street in Sturgis. Its one of the rateist, most abused looking bikes I have seen outside of those intentional rat bikes. In addition it has more flags on it than a 4th of July parade in Washington D.C. I can only imagine the drag those create on a bike at high speed.
This is ridiculous. If the guy had tried to warranty a prematurely worn clutch multiple times, I could understand. Harley just needs to replace the guy's clutch.
But did you notice a 1991 went a million miles flying them,and a 2014 went 15000,that's not good .
I wonder how many clutches the 1991 went through, I would have to say it had to be more than one. In addition, the 2014 clutch has a much softer diaphragm spring which allows them to slip much easier. Heck, 2-up and luggage in hot weather is enough to sometimes cause slippage in these newer bikes. With flags flying it would really have to cause some drag.
A note of interest, his FXR in the museum had an added kick starter on it. I sort of wish my bike had a kick start in addition to the electric start. But its just not practical these days with passenger footboards, exhaust, etc. Not too mention the real bitch it would be to kick start a twin cam.
