Default Front brake problems

2005 roadglide brakes were fine when I took the front wheel off to change the tire put it back on and the brakes were soft. Have to pump them a few times to have solid brakes they will stay solid if I don't move the bike but if I move the bike even just push it backwards ten feet they get soft again have to pump them up. Changed pads bled them out cleaned pistons on caliper an the anti rattle spring. Master cylender is only a couple years old. Anyone ever heard of this? Thanks in advance. Mike

It sounds like you somehow managed to get air trapped in the lines or your master cylinder is bad.

Bled brakes twice no air at all in them. Got a master cylender rebuild kit coming just to eliminate that.

Wrap a zip tie around the front brake lever really tight and leave it over night. See if that helps. This will allow any trapped air bubbles to rise to the top.

Greenberg Brake Bleeding Method

Hydraulics Bleeding (Brake and Clutch)

Read both should solve your problem

I don't think it is air. If it was it would need several pumps whether or not it was moved. I had the same problem when my front rotors were bent. When the bike is moved the bent rotors open the caliper up and it needs an extra pump or two for the pads to make contact with the rotors again. Straighten the rotors and you'll be fine. I used a dial indicator and a couple crescent wrenches to straighten mine out.

That should fix your problem.

I will second the check the rotor runout. A warped/bent rotor will give those same symptoms.

You need to clean the pistons in the calipers. They collect brake dust that keeps the pistons from moving correctly.
There are many threads on this procedure - it's a PITA but simple to accomplish.
