I wasn't going to tell this story but after changing the oil, primary and tranny today I feel I must.............. I bought a used streetglide from a dealership last month, I payed a lot for it but my credit has suffered from a divorce so it is what it is..... anyway........... I agreed on the price and all but the bike needed a new rear tire, the heated grips fixed, new front rotors and an all around fluid change.......... after waiting a week for all this to be done I picked the bike up. upon inspection I found that the heated grip was still broken and the rotors were not changed so I asked if I could make an appointment and come back, they said that was fine........ 2 weeks later I bring it in............ I didn't receive one phone call in four days so I called and they said it was still being worked on(BS) a day or 2 later I went there and asked about it, they said it was now DONE(no call, no nothing) they pull the bike out of the shop, I look at it and find that the three screws holding the windshield on were stripped, the heated grip replaced but still not working, bike covered with dust and grease. I bring it to their attention and they wheeled it back in the shop................ they replaced the fuse and fixed one of the stripped screws in the fairing(not the other 2) i didn't at this point give a **** and took her home(before all this I tipped the mechanic $20.00 just to be a nice guy) a week or so later I'm under the seat looking things over and find that the way the electrical connection was done was a chop job. it looks like they took an electrical pin, put the wires in each end and crushed them with a pair of pliers, I fixed that...................now today I again was looking things over and decided to change all the fluids figuring they didn't do that too..... well guess what........... it appears like they didn't. the oil was black, the filter didn't look new, the tranny fluid was filthy and the best part........... the primary was also filthy, was low around 12 ounces and the frigging primary drain plug was half way out, I took it out with finger pressure... I WILL NEVER HAVE ANYTHING DONE TO MY BIKE AT ANY HARLEY DEALERSHIP EVER AGAIN, I IN FACT WON'T BUY ANYTHING FROM THIS DEALERSHIP AGAIN AND EITHER WILL ANYONE I KNOW(THEIR CHOICE OF COURSE) THIS IS INCOMPETENCE AT ITS BEST............ and on top of all that EVERYONE EXCEPT 2 PEOPLE HAD A ****ING SERIOUS ATTITUDE PROBLEM.... I DON'T GET IT ONE BIT, ALL I DID WAS BUY A MOTORCYCLE........... sorry about the grammar, not my strong point..........
A good reason my bike hasnt been to a stealership since it was taken off the showroom floor. Sounds like you handled it a hell of a lot better than I would have.
In the Harley world I've found shops and riders have two things in common. Some shops take pride in workmanship and show care for fellow riders. Some are incapable of seeing past there own *** hole.
Sounds like you've been at new river Harley in NC. Not afraid to say it. That was about 4 years ago and I hope they changed management since. Every biker I know didn't trust them but they were always able to get new Marines fresh back from deployments - extra cash on hand - to buy their stuff.
I'm having similar attitude issues up here in Mass now but thoroughly enjoy the service in NH!
Did they charge you for all the stuff they never did?
There was no charge for anything as it was supposed to be done as a used bike....... I will go back there on Tuesday and raise hell. I'm tired of this ****, especially the f-ing attitude I got from some........ BIG TOUGH GUY HARLEY DEALERSHIP BIKER DUDE..... makes me laugh. I just hope I don't get attitude again because this time I'm not gonna be nice........ I retired 6 years ago from attitude, don't need it anymore............ especially from incompetent, wanna be tough guys........... I worked with many tough guys, trust me........... these guys aren't them........... I think I'm now entitled to some free **** and at least a permanent 25% off anything forever even though I will never go there again....... ****ing idiots...
So I am guessing this is your first bike?
If it is your first bike then I need to say "That is normal, they all do that".
remember that phrase because you will hear it a lot if you rely upon Harley dealers to service your bike.
You do sound like you might know your way around mechanical things, why have the dealer even work on it?
its my 6th bike, my first bike was a 77 superglide bought in 1983....... I'm not new to bikes but I am new to be being treated like **** by a dealership I'm giving my money and time to................

It was free and included in the deal, I made the mistake of trusting a Harley Dealership............... silly me huh? I heard stories but never had it happen to me until now........ I will take action though...........
