RE: Deer whistles, do they work?
When my first deer cost me over $5K in damages to my SUV (without whistles), a friend got me a set of whistles, which I put on when I got my vehicle back. The second deer I hit managed to scrape and knock the carefully placed whistles off the front bumper, so at that point I decided they truly were TOTALLY WORTHLESS.
Living in Ga, we have a lot of deer around. I was wondering if there is any new data as to how well those little deer whistle stick-on things work. I've never had one because I'd heard they weren't effective, but I don't know for sure.
Hack
Halliburton service trucks averaged 75 truck/deer acidents per year, once they equiped their truck fleet with deer whistles the average dropped to 2 per year.
The sound will make the deer freeze and not jump at the last moment. If you come around a curve too fast and a deer is standing in the road you will still hit it. The whistles are designed to make the deer stayput so they do not jump out in front of you at the last moment, or so you can swerve around it if seen in time.
Are they 100% effective, my guess is absolutely not. But if one can save you from one bike/deer encounter then that is the best $5 you ever spent.

Any chance by killing77 deer the first year theygot most ofthestupid deer before they could reproduce.Got the remaining two the following year?
When, where and howyou drive has the biggest effect onDeer hits. Personally I wouldn't rely on a$5 whistle made in China as my sole protectoragainst deer/scooter accident.
