Default Hard Start

I'm relatively new here, so please forgive me if this has been discussed previously. I have a 2008 Ultra Classic that I bought with 1490 miles on it, in 2009. It now has 33k and it's starting to strain when it starts. I've never had the battery replaced, so I'm hoping that someone here will be able to tell me that that's all the problem is. After it starts the battery gauge reads as it always has in the past. It's just the initial lag at the first push of the button.

Is there anything else that I might need to check instead of, or in conjunction with the battery? Long time reader.... First time poster! Thank you.

Mike

Start with the battery. I bought my 08 in August of 2007 and am on the original battery but I use a tender religiously

Have your battery load tested. If it's weak replace it. If it's OK start by cleaning ALL your battery cables on both ends. That's is just a good start and will probably solve your issues.

Thanks for all the replies, I appreciate it! I'll do a little cleaning, followed by testing. If I need to replace, I'd rather it be the battery instead of a starter.
