My question; Is there a way to stop the Nav system from "recalculating the route" when you miss a waypoint? I can't find this option if it's there!

On my Zumo if I missed a turn( waypoint) I would just zoom out to see where I needed to turn to get back on my route. No recalculation.

When you use the "skip next waypoint" it recalculates the route to the next waypoint which could be miles off your planned route.

I would like a " no recalculation" option like the Zumo's have.

Sometimes you may not exactly hit your waypoint for whatever reason. No worries, as you pass it just "skip next waypoint" and Boom will continue on.

I understand the "skip next waypoint" but that makes the Boom recalculate the route to the next waypoint. If you have 10 miles of twisty roads built into your route from the skipped waypoint to the next waypoint the Boom will bypass the planned route and take the most direct route to the next waypoint. That's why I'd like the Boom have the option to "not recalculate".

Thanks
Steve

Two Questions. Are you guys saying that you can plot a route on Harley's ride planner that will accept via/shaping points? When I tried it all it would save is origin and destination points.

ON the Basecamp created routes are you saying that if you import only the route name and not "select all" the interim shaping points won't be brought in as waypoints? IF so, that is critical for me. Most frustrating thing about the process is when shaping the route every click becomes a waypoint and if for some reason you get off route, it wants to bring you back or recalculate. On group rides when sharing the same Gpx file, it wreaks havoc when not everyone understands which waypoints are to be deleted. HELP!

You'll want to import route only, not all. Basecamp GPX files can include more information than the Infotainment system needs/uses for routing. I've "cleaned up" GPX files that friends have generated on Basecamp using Route Converter with good success. Garmin units have more options that use the extra info, so there's really nothing wrong with those GPX files, just stuff that confuses the H-D box.

I'd guess 2014 Q2 since that's the latest offering on the Naviextras website.

I tried that this morning. Still the shaping points were waypoints. IN some of the garmin units, the shaping points were not destinations and if you missed one, the device would route you to the next shaping point and not try to force you back. Are you saying that by selecting only the route you can achieve the same result? What route converter did you use?

By selecting only the route, it will load just the coordinates needed for the route, not all the extraneous coordinates used for other functions.

You can read aout & find the downlods for Route Converter here: https://www.routeconverter.com/supported-formats/en

I use this to actually generate routes from scratch, although editing existing GPX files or converting from proprietary formats to GPX is its' intended use.
