I just went through the same thing, I rode mine until the back order ended. The primary fluid drain plug had a little more stuck to the magnet than normal but it still ran fine.
If your going by the Kutter HD back order mine was back ordered until the 30th of May and it shipped on the 30th, just in case you were hoping it might show up early.
what goes bad with the comp. ? don't really see anything wrong with it. mine only makes noise on shut down, otherwise it makes alittle noise going down road. is the spring pack the problem?
Up until MoCo went to a helical cut 5th gear the transmissions were notoriously noisy! The problem was related to energy reflection from the rear pully being felt back through the transmission to the comp. If this is your complaint then the noise is aesthetic and does no damage.

Three things happen; the ramps wear and reduce spring pressure, spring washers weaken and "bearing" surfaces wear creating "wobble".
Mine came apart and started banging like a ball peen hammer. Took it out in pieces, I don't think the stock comp liked the 115 Ft Lbs. after the build.
