Almost all Harley covers say not for longtime storage, yet they all have breathable capabilities. Does that mean in a garage or outside. I could see maybe ouyside, but what would it matter how long it was on in a garage? Just wondering, what's you guy's opinion?
i don't think the thicker ones breath well enough inside. Outside the heat and cold help the thicker ones breath better, in my way of thinking (which could be wrong of course.). Convection, natural breeze, helps these covers work.
For longer term storage, you usually see the thinner almost bed sheet type of covers, really dust covers, with excellent breathability, or the bubble type, with controlled air. I think humidity is the problem inside.
Down here in North Carolina we have the Pine Tree pollen - this year is really bad - come out of work and bike is covered with the green pollen. Need pointers for simple dust-like covers that work outside. Thanks
Same issue here in N. FL and it is BAD this year. I bought a small Dowco I believe half cover that does the trick but it's impossible to control lol so I deal with it.
Not trying to be funny, but I take my hose, with gun type nozzle and wash the pollen off. Then I come back with a gas powered leaf blower and dry the rig. Seems to work okay. I have a power washer, but am afraind to use it on the rig. Maybe if I stand a good distance back, it'd be okay, but I don't want to drive any water into areas that would get messed up.
bagger,,, not inside because it proby holds moisture,,,,
I recall a story of a guy going to check out a bike thats been in storage for like 5 years,
like new, never riden,,,, took off cover,, pure rust,
Just bought mine a couple of days ago after a searching several weeks and looking at all the options. Settled on the Wal-Mart MCcover (XL size for my RC Classic) for $19.86. Works fine, & I know you can spend more, but for packability and for use on the road, this works just fine. Nylon upper, with lined interior to protect the finish.
I had one of the lined covers. The wind picked up one day and the cover rubbed on the fender and made a dull spot. I can live with it, but then the mice started to shred it and build a nest with it. I haven't used it since. I am lucky enough to have room for it in either the shed or the garage.
If you have dust on your bike, it means you aren't using it enough!!
