Default Muffler Rubber Mounts

What is the trick to keep the rubber isolators in the saddlebag brackets where the mufflers bolt up?? I have one that keeps getting pushed forward out of the bracket and now it's too mangled to trust.

Was in a similar boat last year. New rubber is cheap enough. Make sure to clean off any rubber on the flat iron that slides through the rubber. I even filed mine a little to ensure it was not slippery. Final resolve was the penny trick (I used a washer), inserted in between the rubber. Tightens it up just enough to stop it from moving and the squeaking. .

Slip a zip tie or two around them. I had the same problem when I put my V&H hi-outputs on my SG. Zip ties have been holding strong since last summer.

Thanks for the replies and help. Did a bunch of forum research and going to pick up 2 new mounts tomorrow. Going to try some silicone on the channel shaped bracket and inside the mount so the bracket can slide around and a zip tie to hold it. Leaving on a 1000 mile trip in a few days and don't want to be messing with this on the road.

Just put a couple of zip ties around the right muffler hanger. Fingers crossed. Must've been those Monster Rounds that I ran for part of last season, man those bad boys are / were heavy! Rough weight was about 13 lbs, I now run Fullsac with 2" cores, 9 lbs.

I was chasing that squealing, sometimes screeching, noise before I read one of these threads (about using the penny). A pair of new rubber mounts was only $4 and change at the dealer. Dirt cheap, and noise is gone. The aftermarket option seems nice but $30 a set... I'll go to the dealer for them every couple of years or so.
