Oil filter shelf life ?

I found a HD Superpremium 5 oil filter yesterday in my garage. Apparently it had been misplaced and hidden behind some other stuff. My guess is it has been there for maybe 4 years. It's still in the box. Do these things have a shelf life, should I use it or not?

As long as its been stored indoors and wasnt subjected to excessive moisture and the gasket is still plyable use it
