I just picked up my keyed saddle bag lock set for my RK Custom. After reading the instructions, it seems that you loose the use of the release button! I wish the dealer would have said that to me before I spent $70 on the kit.
Has anyone else installed the kit? Any thoughts?>
I don't have an answer to your question, but I am glad you asked. I was about to order this part for my RK Custom, but had a few questions about it myself. So you are saying the latch button is useless once these are installed?
It is true. But, you simply push the lock inward and it releases the lock. I would buy them again. I had them on mine before I changed to the painted hard bags.
Ya was going to install mine today but never got around to it. Will the bag latch still hold the bag down after the lock is installed ? Hate to have them flop open or rattle.
Had the dealer install mine so I can not tell you how tough they are to install. The bag latches still work and keep the lid closed. The release button no longer works. You will need to push on the lock to open the bags. Glad to havemine installed. Now I can put things in there and it will make it a little more difficult for someone to steal the bags.
I installed them on mine. I ordered them with the same key number as my ignition. As stated above, the lock becomes your release button. The kit gives you a plastic tie to keep the original lock from rattling after itâs disconnected.
I am glad I have them now and my only gripe would be is where the location of the locks because itâs hard to use the key at times in that tight area
