I'm wondering, if you find yourself behind a car/biker and you suspect the driver is DUI, would you call 911, try to stop the guy, or what? Of course, the person could be having a medical emergency. What would you do?
I call 911 and report it immediately. Take notice of route and direction , time, license and description. I also get out from behind and away from them asap!
I also would call 911. We've actually doneit before, and the only downside is that the police asked us to pull over so that they could have one of the dispatched squads stop to talk with us 'in person.' In retrospect, I'm not sure why they did this, but I'm assuming that they wanted to see if we knew more than we were letting on? Anyways, I suppose we could have refused to be held up and simply told them that we were doing a public service and wanted to leave it at that.
If I was behind a DUI....I'd turn the blue lights on and pull him over Seriously though as a regular citizen I would call 911 and follow him, but never try and stop him yourself.
I'm not sure I'd like hanging around. Seems like giving them the vitals: tag #, car, make, color, road it was on, direction it was headed, etc, should be enough. Or maybe they thought that yours was a prank call.
