Default Road King tail light

Looking at a BAL-1 tail lamp for my 2011 RKC. Then I noticed they had a BAL-3RT which is a lay down BCM compatible model. I can't seem to keep up on the terminology. Do I need this model? I just don't know what my stock tail light is called. Thanks.

I have a Bal-1 on my Classic, great light. I have seen a light bar at the dealer which also includes LED running lights/brake/turn signals. Don't know who makes that but it was much more expensive. So now added the HD run/brake/turn module for around $60 and have that added capability just not with LEDs ( other than the Bal LED).

Thanks for the reply. I guess I can just call the brightass company tomorrow. I was just wondering what is meant by "BCM lay down model tail light". I don't know if my bike has that kind of tail light or not. It's more expensive than their BAL-1 model.

I have the BAL-3S on my FLHR. The only taillight I would have. BRIGHT is an understatement. The multiple settings definitely will get attention.

The "T" with the clear window is for if your license plate is above the taillight. The clear window is intended to illuminate the plate.

Hope this helps...

The BAL-1 is PLENTY!! That is the best upgrade I've done to my scoot. As far as the lens "laying down", it just depends on the look you're after. The lens laying down will NOT affect how bright these lights are!! Trust me.....people WILL see you!!

BCM is just the new CanBus module. All that is saying is the model is compatible with BCM on the 2011+ Softail, 2012+ Dyna, & 2014+ Touring models with BCM. Just pick your color and style. It will work fine.

BAL= BrighAssLight (obviously)
3= laydown style
S or R = red or smoke
T = Tag light

The BAL-1 will work fine on yours unless you want the slanted lens or more LED's. Mines a 2011 and I have the BAL-1. Oh and check Kutter online they have discounts on these lights.

I put a lay down tail light from Kuryakn on my RKC yesterday. Different light but it has a more stylish look versus the old giant tail light.

They lay down looks way better. I also moved my lic plate so I did not need the clear lens on top.

Thanks everyone. Just got the BAL-1. Company said it will look just like stock. The other one is $49.00 more for the lay back version. But, I like the look as it is. Maybe I can sell my old one on EBAY.

You'll be happy with any BAL. It is incredible how much light they put out. Stand behind the bike after you install and have someone engage the brake...you will be amazed!
