Hot. I tried Redline Syn in primary. It didn't take long & the clutch started to slip at high rpms, going from 4th, 5th & 6th. I had my dealership check it out. My tech wanted to show me what the oil looked like. It was some nasty looking dark brown & smelled burnt. He told me that's he's seen this several times. Went back to HD Formula+ & never had any other problems. I run RedLine Oil & Trans fluid & they are outstanding.

I noticed some slip after the the 1k service and syn 3 was used. It was noticeable on hard shifts. That hole I now use formula + and the clutch engagement feels better using it.

Formula+ will make the compensator as happy as that POS can get, too. Anything that has the new style SE Comp gets formula+ before it leaves here.

why is this ? i would think mobil v-twin would be a better lube for the compensator.

I ran all kinds of **** in my tranny and primary and finally gave up a few years ago and now just use Formula Plus because i saw no change or improvements with other crap....so easy to keep 1 fluid designated to primary and tranny...As for changing it i like to run it for a while just to stir it all up. Is would seem that most of the crap would be better drained out that way...

No.

I think you need to review how oil viscosity, lubricity and Winter weight works in hot and cold temperatures. Just think, "why do air cooled bikes run 20W50, and liquid cooled bikes run 10W30/40"... Hmmmm

Wrong. The oil will only thin to the larger # when hot and thicken to the lower# when cold. The oil gets thinner when heated.
