Default I can't stand a thief!!!

Last weekend, I installed my aftermarket Mutazu King Tour Pak. I took it for a nice spin. It fits perfectly on the OEM 4 point docking kit.

(See the picture below).

After the ride, I made three stoops (that I remember). The first to the dealership; the second to Costco's. (I do remember coming out and seeing two old guys standing near my bike. I didn't think anything about it.) and the final stop was to the grocery store, Harris Teeter.

Today, I took the day off from work and wanted to take a nice long ride. Before I ever go for a ride, I automatically do an inspection of the bike. I noticed a clinking sound from the tour pak and saw that the entire metal grommet on the upper left side was missing. I removed the tour pak and then rode to the dealer. There I spoke to 2 folks who work there and a couple of guys who were just hanging around. All agreed, it's impossible for the grommet and screw to just "fall off" of the bike. Someone removed it from my bike. The parts folks suggested that someone probably tried to steal the tour pak.

I don't know for sure if the 2 guys who were standing near my bike actually did anything. My god, this was the parking lot of Costco's, in the suburbs. And, those guys were wearing flipflops, short and one had on a Hawaiian shirt.

So, my question is, how do you folks secure your tour paks? What's my best, realistic option?

I've attached pictures of the rear of the bike with the missing grommet.

Go to Costco and ask to speak to security. Tell them where you were parked, a time frame and see if they will review the tape.....worth a shot...

You wouldn't have to remove that to ****** a TP on a detachable rack.

Darn that blows in my back yard too. I use the Clamp It Jr to secure mine.

That's the same one that would come loose on my bike. I tightened and after a 100 mile ride the bolt backed completely out multiple times. Only thing that kept it from falling on the highway was the magnetic chrome cover. I used lock tight and problem solved. Seems the vibration of the tour pack was causing it to come loose.

There's some pretty dumb crooks wouldn't put it past there IQ level to take that off vs depressing back latches to steal TP.

I hope you guys are right about the vibration. Seriously, I feel sick to my stomach thinking that someone violated me like that by stealing something from off of my bike.

And then of course while at the dealership today, everyone was sharing horror stories of bikes getting ripped. The lady at the parts department told me that her bike was stolen down in Myrtle Beach and she saw the 4 guys taking it. But she's like 5'2", really what is she gonna do against 4 guys. Oh and Uh, guess where I'm riding to this weekend for a deep sea fishing trip: MYRTLE BEACH!!!

I only had issue with the front mount behind the left butt coming loose. Damn thing would not stay tight at all. The bolt and washer were held inside the magnetic cap multiple times, I was really surprised. I thought someone was messing with me at work. I reinstalled it at work and by the time I got home, 102 miles mostly highway, the damn bolt and washer was laying inside the chrome cap being held there by the magnet. Weird as heck as it was only the front one behind my left pant pocket . Never did have any issues with the right side.

While nothing will stop a determined thief I use one of the HD cam locks on my detachable solo T Pak rack on one side and one of these on the other:

I got this off of eBay a few years back and it keeps the cam from being able to be operated like the Clamp It Jr..
