Default Need some help with 30 tooth conversion

I plan on installing 30 tooth sprocket on my 2011 streetglide FM107 and need some info. I know I need a 139 tooth belt and am going use the (83595-11) tri-glide pulley. I have seen where people have recommended using the 139 tooth Harley (40040-05) belt with this mod. This belt is listed as a 1 1/8 " wide belt and OE is only 1" wide. Has anybody used this belt and will it work on the 1" rear pulley?

Thanks

use this belt, BDL-SPC-139-1 the 1 1/18 wont work. You could always mod the swing arm and use the stock belt , this is what I did to mine and works great plus no worries about finding or breaking the belt.

I think the SPC is a Falcon carbon fiber reinforced belt. I used the Gates Poly Chain PC-139-1 after reading some complaints of premature failure for the SPC belts on this forum. Make sure you spring for the sprocket and pulley holder, they're easy to find on ebay and much cheaper than the tool vendors.

Thanks for the reply. How do you like the 30 tooth? Is it worth doing?

Go for a Baker pulley. It's 2 pounds lighter and extremely well made. Looks a hell of a lot better than the rusty HD pulley.

I did this last year and it is without dought the best value for money mod you can do but a word of warning DO NOT USE the BDL Falcon belt it is absolute crap, mine lasted less than 4000 miles .use the Gates belt which is available from Gates or BDL
I have now done this on 3 Bikes and it makes them so much better to ride
PM me if you need to know any more .

Default 30 tooth conversion

What are the benefits of a 30 tooth vs. stock? If I take off kinda hard my rear tire lights up (new Metzler 888). Would that help?

Bagger by nature are a heavy Beast and by dropping the gearing they are a lot more nimble at low speeds and they are a lot quicker of the mark
Mine has some other work done to it as well but since I did the gearing change it will now pull the redline in all the gears. as I said It is the best Mod for the money that I have ever done

Have the 30 tooth on 2012 limited with TW555, 10.5, Power duals, PV, and 4 inch Jack pots. The reason for the 30 was little lazy in 6th gear below 70. Even with the cams it will now cruise easily in 6th at 55 mph and no problem doing it. Put another in 2010 stock limited and it improved some, but not as much difference as the 12 was. It would cruise down to 45 in 6th. Both had the Gates polychain. Don't have the 2010 Limited as have a 14 limited. The 14 is every bit as strong as the 30 tooth in the 2010.
