I've got the oil temp gauge. It's a little more useful than that air temp gauge. But all the guys above are right. It's interesting to watch, but I don't fixate or worry about it. I've got good oil, it'll be fine. We don't get much stop and go traffic in East Texas. The highest I've ever seen the oil temp was 290* at about 13,000' just below the summit of Pike's Peak. Normally in the summer, it runs 230-250*.
