I have a 99 FXDX 88ci 1450. I have one of the oil temp dipsticks and when the bike is warmed up it runs at around 200 deg F. Is this about right? On cool days its around 198-199 on hotter days is around 208 deg F. Sound normal? Just wondering if I'm in the ballpark. Thanks.
That sounds a bit cooler that I would expect, but that's a good thing!
My '04 FXDP with stock TC88A has a JES Customs analog temp dipstick that I've tested in boiling water so I think it's pretty close. Oil runs 220-230 cruising on an 80-degree day. It runs 240-250 cruising on a 100 degree day like we've had lately. It never runs below 210 or so once fully warmed up, and I've never seen it above 250 - so far.
That makes me feel better. I really had no idea what the "right" temp was supposed to be. Its never hit 210. I think 208 has been the hottest its ran for me. Usually runs at around 202 when its 85 outside.
