45k on '10, 50k on '06 before that, 20k+ on '01, never had horn mount issues. Now shifter linkage, warped rotors... Enough miles your guaranteed to have a couple minor problems, just have to put it all in perspective.
First it was the new "Rushmore" generation failures and now a $6 horn mount...has anyone ever ridden a 70's to 90's era HD...**** would fall off on most rides and you'd McGruber a fix and press-on. Come back when you have a real issue...
Back four years ago I rented a 2010 Ultra from local dealer and rode out to Utah for 10 days...about 4 days into the ride we pull over for fuel and I sit her on the side stand, and something hits me in the leg...look down and see the horn hanging by the ground wire...WTF...AND on both cylinders the fins are beat to ****, been banging pretty hard going 80 down the super slab.
Same thing happened...the rubber mount literally split right down the middle.
Rental dude asked how was the ride, I said great... but (there is always a but) I handed him the horn and pointed at the cylinders...all I got to say is Im glad it was a rental.
I think the OP is pissed about his cylinders not so much the 6.00 mount.
On my '09 the horn bracket itself broke, cracked clean off. Noticed it when I heard a NEW metallic rattle sound.... I think I redrilled it and used a larger washer, bolt, and a nut.
Vibrations can break stuff, or loosen stuff up then break them, or just chaff wires and hoses. (Yes, due to Harley's bootleg crankshaft assembly some bikes vibrate more than others...)
Harleys vibrate like a jack hammer or dirt compactor. The moto has a little experience in this area so most things are rubber mounted. Replace OEM rubber without modifying anything and ride on. Chances are it'll never happen again. No need to over think and re-engineer everything. Glad you had a smooth flight otherwise, sounds like a great trip.
