If you want to stay with your half helmet, try one with the sunvisor that retracts into the helmet. My wife uses one and says it works well in mild rain storms. She can tuck in behind me if it rains hard. I have a 3/4 with a sunvisor that I use most of the time in mild rain and a shield that I only use in heavy downpours.

On long extended trips(400 plus miles) I carry my 1/2 Akoury and a 3/4 HJC-IS33. Great helmet with inner built in half shield and external flip down shield. Served me well in a Kansas microburst

Half helmets suck in the rain. Took me awhile but I finally gave in and bought a 3/4. MUCH MUCH better in the rain.

I ride with no helmet if I can, BTW.

Also, for decent rain riding ability, you do not want to be looking thru a windshield, you want to be looking over it. Right now, I am using a LRS 7" curved type shield on a batwing.

I use a helmet net and catch the two shock towers to hold it in place. I have a Mustang missing seat leather cover over the fender, too.

After getting caught for a couple hundred miles in the rain on a long trip last year I promised myself I'd always pack one on long trips. Riding in the rain isn't exactly fun. But when you have to cover ground on the interstate while getting blasted in the face with no protection it is worse!

I just rode from Guymon OK to Dallas TX a couple weeks ago on my SG. Had my bags full and a small duffle packed and strapped to the passenger backrest. I strapped my 3/4 with drop down face shield to my back rest and the duffle bag and it worked great. Incidentally...I did get caught in a torrential downpour between OKC and Woodward, and Woodward and Guymon. Thought I was going to die a couple of times. That shield worked great for keeping the rain off...vis was much better than goggles. However....my hands were cold, so I couldn't get my brights turned off quickly enough to satisfy the jack *** truckers. First time one flashed his brights at me all I could see was the inside of my visor. Seriously thought I was seeing the face of god. Every....fckn....truck I met flashed his brights at me.
