Default She made it !!

Well the SO other finally made a long ride and loved it. We took off from Augusta Ga and rode up to Ohio (Amish Country) then back down through WV mountains then over to the Blue Ridge Parkway (Virginia). All in all about 1900 miles in 4 days. Wasnt sure she would survive or like it for that matter. We got back last night and she said when can we do another one. Does life get any better when your SO likes to do long hauls.

P.S. West Virginia is as nice as it gets for riding.

Awesome! I wish we had the time for it, but later in life, I'm sure we will...tough when you have a 14 y/o. Where's the pics?

Awesome. Happy for you.

I'm going to start planning our 1st long one. I believe it will be to Smoky Mountains National Park. Stay in gatlinburg or pigeon forge and ride mountains for a couple of days.

Wife (hippiechick) does not work, and I can take off for long weekends and use vacation a day at a time, so I am blessed in that respect.

Well after packing the tour pack and putting a bag on the top of it, we forgot the camera. We did get a disposable one and have to get them developed. We did the Smoky mountains through Gatlinburg, the ride was great but i hated gatlinburg. (What a tourist trap) but the Smoky mountain National park is a great ride.

Tell your SO "way to go". I'm glad she liked it and you all will be able to enjoy the ride together. I don't think I would have near as much fun riding if my wife wasn't a part of it.

Regards,

Bill

I know what you mean Bill, at the end of the day Cindy is my best bud so it makes it all that much better that she loves to ride as well. I honestly dont think i would ride near as much as i do if she wasnt there with me.

When the 8 y/o get's older...we will be able to make those long hauls ourselves. I make most of the rides alone for now....we ride every now and then, but not very often. Congrats on the ride. Remember....preventative maintenance now pays dividends later......don't overlook the small details when you are making long trips....

Ride on.

Ridden the Blue Ridge several times in years past. Great riding all around the area. If you ride the whole thing from Cherokee NC. to Front Royal, Va. you are not that far from Harper's Ferry and Gettysburg, PA which are also great places to visit.

My wife and I were in Gatlinburg earlier in the summer (before the Harley), and rented a cabin in the mountains between Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. The Cabin we rented had one loft type bedroom, 3 FULL baths, a fully equipped kitchen, large living area with TV, VCR, etc., a lower level with pool table, air hockey, and fooseball tables, 3 decks at different levels, the main deck having a hot tub. All at a price that was much cheaper than a motel/hotel. Cabins are available with up to 8 bedrooms so you could go with a large group. We paid $386.00 including taxes for 4 nights in the prime of summer. Motels were going for a minimum of $100.00 up per night. Saw lots of bikes going up the same road to cabins. I highly recommend the cabins if you are going to spend a few days in the area. You can also rent most of the cabins for one night.

Search on Smokey Mountain Cabins, chalets, cottages, and you will get many different options.

Enjoy the ride!
