Well, he didn't tell you what a PITA putting the fairing back on is!!!!!

You will need to have a six-pack of patience or beer.....your choice
I found the best way is too leave the headlight off till last. With the headlight off you can see the retaining hook that you need to hang the fairing on. Once you hook the fairing to the retaining hook I then secure the driving light mounts and then the four inner screws the last thing I do is line up the headlight with the hole for the clips and then pop it in. The headlight has these green retainers that are spring loaded so when you push in they lock in place. Once the headlight is on pop on the headlight cover and your done. I had mine off and on in an hour last night after I hooked up the fuel/air gauge backwards! LOL

From the '06 service manual the inner fairing screw's torquevalueis 20-30 in-lbs (2.3-3.4 Nm) if you havea torque setting that goes that low. I imagine the fairings haven't changed much between '06 and '07. I followed the advice mentioned above about the headlight assembly but I also removed the windshield. I read somewhere on the forum that removing the windshield made it easier to put the outer fairing back on properly. It may or may not be true but I decided toremove mine instead of trying to do it with the windshield on.
