after reading all the great stuff said about the hog tunes i think i might get some. i assume you have to take the fairing apart to instal them. i have an 07 road glide has anyone done this and if so can you tell me how?
Your next question may be what wires do I work with. Most all of your questions will be answered in the book. Lots of pictures, also help. Your dealer probably has the 07 book in stock. Enjoy your new ride.
I have done it to several bikes, an 06 and 07...no difference. You need to first remove the fairing. Place a blanket over the fender to protect it. Remove the 4 nuts holding the turn signals on and remove them. Next take out 6 screws out of the fairing. You do not need to remove the windshield. With the screws out I stand straddle of the fender, grab the fairing and lift up and back. This removes it off the support hooks. When loose reach behind and remove the headlight wires.
Now you just remove the wires from the speakers, remove the 4 screws and loosen the retaining flange nut. The speaker will then come right out. Now reverse the process.
The wife's assistance was really appreciated in hang that sucker back on. Be careful in torqueing down the mounting screws as they are grabbing only the plastic of the fairing.
Just get 'em snug. You'll know by feel. The screws are like sheet metal screws and you are going into a plastic. The instructions on the Hogtune speakers are easy and once you see the speakers in the fairing, it is a no-brainer. The speaker connections are impossible to swap as they are different spade-type sizes. You don't even have to remove the fairing completely off the bike. I just rested mine on the covered front fender.....did not disconnect the headlight harness.
So simple, even Mr. Wonderful did it! Forge ahead!
