Sorry boys and girls, but if you have a only have a $49 head, buy a $49 head, at least outofcontrolj has a $125 head....(just kidding). Anyway, a half helmet may sit there on top of your head...until you need it. In a wreck all sorts of strange things happen. So, IMO if you get a half helmet, see how easy it comes off when you pull it off over your face when it is buckled... Also, I want to see the Snell rating...
I for one am a SHOEI 3/4 RJ Air fan, there are however many other good helmets, especially Arai, but at least place a value on your head more than $125....
Did Roof ever get DOT certified? If not you could be looking at a ticket to go with your expensive French import.
Don't get me wrong. It looks like Roof does have an interesting product that meets or exceeds DOT standards having been certified in Europe for quite some time. But if they choose not to pursue the DOT label the end user will end up paying the ticket for a novelty helmet.

I ride in Scotland, so not sure but it is ECE 22-05 Approved
The only thing imported and expensive is my Harley LOL
Concure here 100% on the Shoei. I have a H-D Jet II and just got my Shoei 3/4 Platinum (black of course). Best helmet I ever owned. Won't be wearing the H-D one anymore. Dave
I bought a Shoei St. Cruz half helmet from http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com...101&Division=1 for $160 (no where near the $500 you mentioned.) Re: Hack's question, Shoei has a sizing chart that you compare your head measurement to and select the size. I was nervous about getting the right size on the first try, but it fit like a glove (and the way experts say a helmet should fit. Went online since there wasn't much choice in the town I live in --- and at gas prices these days --- well............. Good luck on your choice.
Buzz, you lucked out with the fit. Even halfs are variable enough. I've got a $125 HD(AGV)pearl that's my expensive paperweight, it squeezes my temples after 10 minutes. The black one at the store fit, but didn't want to wear an easy-bake oven on top of my head and ordered the pearl. Does the big visor on your St.Cruz get moved by the wind at speed?
This quote stolen from webbikeworld's review of the boxer helmet. I also clicked on a link that showed a current currency exchange. the helmet is $483 plus shipping.
"The Boxer V meets ECE 22.05 safety standards but is not DOT or Snell approved. It is currently not sold in the U.S.A. but can usually be ordered through UK dealerships who are willing to ship to the U.S.A. (but watch out for the weak dollar exchange rate and high shipping costs)."
I am another one that can't buy things that need to fit without trying them on. If you have to mail it back, there goes any savings you might of had.
It is OK to take the lining out of the helmet and to crush some of the foam with a ball pean hammer so you get a better fit. I read this on the internet, so I know it's true.

My Harley Helmet slipped out of my hand today as I was fishing for my keys in my pocket. It did not drop more then 3 feet. The helmet cracked in several areas. Above the ear area. The model number is 97212-02V for the helmet that I purchased directly from Harley. I found out the helmet itself is made by HJC......
Well now I get to go out and get a new helmet which is fine (NOT) so I thought I would get opinions on the better helmets out there. Has anyone heard of VOX? or some of the $125 brands?? They all seem to have the DOT on them....
Any advice?? I would like to stay with the flip helmets...they are so convenient.
Thanks
Joe
