Default What Scrapes?

2009 Road King. As I get more comfortable with its abilities I now find myself making contact with the road on low speed turns more and more.

My question is what parts normally do the scraping on the left side? I was assuming Jiffy stand but on closet inspection I find no signs of contact. Next thought was the foot board but nothing obvious there either. So I am curious.

don't be afraid to hang off your bike, shift your own weight to the inside, that keeps a better contact patch on the tires.

most control parts on a bike like levers and floorboards/ pegs are designed to pivot away from contact.

hard parts ( those "hard mounted" to the frame) contact may relieve traction from the tires, resulting in a slide.

Warning Will Robinson. Actually look at the outside edges of your floor boards, as opposed to just running your finger along them to feel for roughness. They can get sharp. Don't ask me how I know!!

I used to scrape the floorboards on my '02 RKC all the time but I was never leaned over far enough to scrape the mounting brackets themselves. Catching a bracket could cause you to hear a wholly different scraping sound.

As motorman Jerry Palladino says "Scraping your floorboards should be music to your ears; it just means you've reached the lean angle of your motorcycle."

I just like eating up miles. I have no desire to ever hear my floorboards on a Street Glide hitting the pavement..... My 2 cents. I'm watching the Ride Like a Pro DVD but only for the slow speed stuff and still never want to hear that sound......
