He said they were designed with no clips in mind, but have them because many people like a stiffer ride.
That's funny, and another reason I'll never buy another product from Progressive. That completely flies in the face of what I was told in December when I called them. By the same token, my measured ride height reduction with two clips in was 3/8". Measured it myself, and there are many, many posts on this and other forums which will confirm that. Remove those two clips and you'll be an inch lower than stock (at least), no two ways about it.

Lowering the front end an inch and leaving the stock ride height alone will effectively decrease fork rake and reduce your trail. The bike will be less stable, and though turn-in may feel a little sharper, you'll be more susceptible to headshake and wobble. And of course, you'll drag stuff earlier.

Thanks. Now I'm completely confused.

Maybe I'll just stick with 1 clip, most people who are happy with theirs, I think, say 1 clip.

The '05train is right...I called several weeks ago and at my weight (175lbs) he said two clips.

Well, here's the upshot:

I went with 1 clip, and rode 45 miles home from my friends house where we did the work and I was VERY happy with the ride. It seems to be much smoother over bumps, the front end dive is nearly eliminated, and it just feels firmer all around.

Sanman, with the seals and all, I'm don't think you'd be able to get to the clips without tearing them apart completely.

Did you measure how much you lowered the front end?

I called Progressive and they confirmed what you said....I'm not getting to the clips without removing the 6mm on the bottom of the legs.

Going to have to decide what to do. It wouldn't be that bad but I have a hidden axel and that dam captive nut is a PIA to remove.

I wouldnt think its that bad as much as the fact that you have to dump the oil, remove the nut, yank the seals, etc, pretty much a total tear down.
