The gauge on the dash tells you when you need to put more clothes on, take clothes off, or take the car. without it, we wouldn't know what to do.

You are the second person since I've been riding that thought that gauge was for the shocks. That's 25 years. It's best to ask. There are no dumb questions. Just unanswered ones. And some that don't deserve an answer...

Just a tip, the Harley air pressure pump gauge is identical to the pumps sold to be used for mountain bike air shocks, so check with your local bicycle dealers and see if you can't get a better price (make sure the pressure range is the same).
As I was riding home it kept climbing to a point I thought the shocks were going to explode !! lol.. I was mentally pre pared for the bang ...

FYI - do not use an air compressor to put air in your shocks. It will damage them. Get the hand pump and put it in your saddlebag so you can have it with you to find that sweet spot setting

The rule of thumb for 2009 models and up is 1 pound of air pressure for every 10 pounds of weight. If you weigh in at 230 then your air pressure should be around 23. if you are 180 the your pressure should be around 18. etc.....
