Default drive CHAIN adjustment

Does anyone know the correct spec/method to adjust the final drive chain on a 02 streetglide that was converted from belt drive? Thanks

You joking? What did the previous owner tell ya. What brand parts were used, they should also be able to tell you. Alternatively you can work it out yourself. You need to know what travel your rear shocks have, when fully compressed. Support the bike upright, disconnect the shocks at the swingarm, then jack the wheel up until you reach the position of max compression of your shocks. The chain should have just a trace of slack, at it's tightest point. Refit shocks, measure slack with the bike on the ground and hey presto! Simples.

No that is not the normal process, but if you don't know what it should be, or cannot find it, then that is how to perform it for the first time, to establish what the slack should be, from first principles. In other words your chain should not go tight when on full compression of your rear shocks. You only need to do it once.

A chain should have about 3/4" to 1" of play with the rider on the bike. Been a while since I have had a chain drive bike. Also keep it lubed and clean. I used to use PJ1 and then wrap a raga round and spin the wheel to get all the excess lube off to keep it from mucking up the rear wheel.

Chains are nice if you snap belts. My bike does not have that kind of power to it...yet.
