After trying a roll bar mount which did not work for mounting a gopro, I bought a gopro suction cup mount. I was apprehensive about using it(no tether) just stuck on bike. I rode today w/ it sucked onto fairing and it worked great. Minimal vibration. Wind noise was loud during playback. I also tried it on left saddle bag, a lot of vibration. So fairing it is. I just kept waiting for it to fly away, but it held true up to 75mph.
I use a ram handlebar mount and 3" exrension, so the gopro sits next to the windshield. Nothing interfearing in the field of view, and much better than when mounted to crash bar. Easy to turn on and off also.
I've tried using a RAM handlebar mount and also a RAM suction-cup mount on the windshield. Way too much shake, even when not idling. Any ideas on how to reduce that?
I just went ahead and bought the little fairing bracket for the bagger on EBay that gnewman suggested. We'll see how that works.
I got the handlebar mount from GoPro. I tried different locations and settled on the right front turn signal. I found the photos came out very good. The videos were good up to about 45 mph before a little shaking started. Overall, I'm happy with it there. Here is a photo of the mount and one on the road photo.
