I am having my Progressive 944 springs reduced to the standard. I got them with the Heavy Duty springs. My wife and I are combined about 400 lbs. We compressed the shocks only one inch. That was pre-load set as soft as possible.
Me at 200 lbs, I found the shocks pretty darn stiff so back to progressive they went for a spring reduction. If you go Progressive 944 HD you should be happy.
Just my two cents.
Have you gotten the shocks back from Progressive yet? Don't be so sure the switch to the standard spring will cure your problem. Been there done that.

I don't expect to have my shocks back for a couple of weeks. I'm pretty sure going a bit softer will be just fine. It really matters how you ride. I'm an easy going rider now days. I just need the shocks to keep my wife from compacting her spine every time we hit a man hole cover.
Welcome from NoCal. You'll get all kinds of suggestions of what's the best. Do yourself a favor & do a google search. Now I'll tell you what I've run over the years, Works Performance Shocks. Good luck.
Is the money for the Ohlins worth it with the stock front forks??
Oh yes - absolutely no doubt whatever! If Mrs WDE rides along too she will be especially grateful for them. I suspect many of us, after fitting them, have come to realise two things: 1 Harleys really can be comfortable and ride well after all; 2 the forks need a helping hand as well. Regard them as phase 2 of your enhancement programme!
