I did the exact same thing a few months ago. 13 SG for a 14 King for the same reason. Just got back from a 3500 mile ride and loved it. Ended up getting a 16" LRS shield as the stock 20" was way too tall. Normally don't have the shield on at all but for long rides it does the trick.
