I had one on my '07 FLHX and removed it before getting my new '14 Ultra Limited. Reading the instructions, even with the extra wiring harness moco SAYS you need, makes no sense. The HD transmitter I have, has a yellow wire and there's no mention of how it hooks up with the LED headlight. Long story short, I DID wind up installing it without the extra harness. Here's the wiring setup I used and it works perfectly! The first of the wires is from the transmitter, the latter is from the bike wiring. Hope this helps someone from wanting to punch a hole in my garage wall like I wanted to... LOL
Transmitter Black -----> Black from 12 volt cigarette lighter
Transmitter Orange/White -----> Violet/Blue from 12 volt cigarette lighter
Transmitter White -----> Blue/White of LED Headlight
Transmitter Yellow -----> Blue/Yellow of LED Headlight
I keep the garage door opener remote that came with my garage door opener in the inner pocket of my riding jacket. I can have the door open by the time I am in the driveway and shut the bike down. Total cost = zero
^^^ Yeah, That !. ^^^
If one cost me $30...I'd rather buy myself diiner with beer.
And/or if one cost $250, I'd rather bring my better half with me, go on an all day trip, dinner for two and spent the night at a decent motel elsewhere.
Just trying to answer the OP's question... It would be nice when searching, to not have to sift through needless, redundant posts that still don't help any. I think it's pretty obvious that carrying an existing remote will work. There must be 1000 posts in multiple threads saying this. Just sayin...

Wow you two are friggin geniuses. How did you ever figure the technology to carry an oem opener remote with you. Now that's why I come here. The enlightenment I get from some of you guys is amazing. Maybe I'll try that fumbling around for my remote when I just get tired of pushing the button on my dash
Not trying to insult you on here. Call me cheap cuz if there's a garage door opener with a clip that you could use in your vehicle. Why not apply the same thing to your Harley ?. I'd rather invest my hard earned money elsewhere. That's all I got to say.
Good Luck with your decision.
