Default 07 models VS. 06

I am thinking of selling my 96 Road King and interested in buying a newer ElectraGlide Classic or Ultra. I have a couple of friends that have 07's and they have some negative comments (pipes, strange noises, etc.) as well as good praise (96", 6 speed, etc.). I talked to a dealer here in NorCal and they have a 07 EG Classic that they would sell me for $20500 out the door. Thats about $1000-$2000 less than most dealers. I also have seen several used 06 models for about $17500-$20000. Some of these already have chrome upgrades and performance upgrades, hence the price. Hopefully some of you can give me feedback on your experiences with these models. The 07 sonds real good, because of the factory warranty but is bone stock! Are there many choices in pipes for the 07 yet? All feedback is great ly appreciated.

You wont regret the 07. It is a nice bike. Go and rent one. If the dealer wont let you test drive one. Rent one from the dealer and tell him to cover the rental if you buy one.

I have an 06 Superglide and an 07 RKC and they are both great bikes. I also had some concerns prior to buying my 07 because of negative comments here on the forum. In general I have found these concerns are greatly exaggerated. Good luck either way....CJ

I personally looked at the 07 liine up and then found a brand new 06 still on the floor a few months ago, a Road Glide. The price difference was just a bit over 3k. I went with the 06. I've read lots on the 07's and personally know a few folks with them who have had issues. My decision was based pretty much on the fact that with the 06 I can do a pretty dam good stage 2 for under 2k and the fact that 95 plus percent of my riding would not give me the chance to use the 6th gear at all since my riding is all country back roads and I rarely get out on any open highway. This is my second RG and I do agree with what I've heard several dealers say as well as other RG owners which is "The Road Glide is Harley's best kept secret". That's my story and I am a sticking to it lol.

I test rode a 2006 RKC for a weekendbefore buying a 2007 RKC. Even though it was a short comparison, I feel the 2007 motor and trans is far above the 2006 model. I have added pipes (Rinehart TD) as well as upgrades (110 SE kit, SERT, Tourpak, Touring seat) and absolutely LOVE the bike. The power and sound are unbelieveable!

No issues with trans (yes, it whines in 5th compared to all other gears, but rest of gears are much quieter than 2006), no heat issues.

Either way you choose, you will be a winner. Enjoy!

I have an 07, and am happy as can be If you feel the 06 is a good enough deal then buy it, but if you don't mind spending a little more, get the 07, you'll be happy with it. If you don't make up your mind in a couple of months wait till the 08s come out, and then get an 07 at a deal, or spend a little more and get an 08......it can go on forever Just buy what you like, and don't worry about it.

Good luck. I have several friends with 07 bikes which were happy in the first few thousand miles. One now says he wishes he had his 06 back and the other is talkin to the dealer about things he does not like. I feel bad for HD because they have a 100 plus year old company and the EPA is telling them how to run things. I also know people happy with their 07 bikes.
